Online Education
In today’s fast paced world, we barely have enough time for our family let alone higher education. With the advances of technology we can have it all the family, career and education. Online courses have enabled people seeking education the ability to take courses with out the burden of going to class. This has made attending school much more convenient but just has difficult. The type of skills need for online classes differ form those need to attend in-class courses.
The skills needed for online classes are similar but very different the in-class courses. As with both in-class and correspondence courses a person must have several skills. Discipline, in-class you must have the discipline to attend class and complete the assigned assignments, with online classes you must have discipline to not only sign on to the class but complete the assigned assignments all the while fighting the urge to wait until tomorrow. Time management, in-class you must manage your time by a being on time for your classes, and meeting assignment due dates. With online classes your time management skills only apply to you completing the assignments by the due date. Procrastination is the final skill that you need for both in-class and online courses. But I feel with online classes the potential for procrastination increases because you are not in a learning environment in your home. You must ensure that you have the proper work space for in a class room environment that situation already exists.
In conclusion, with the advances of today’s technology pursuing a higher education is becoming more convenient. But the skills needed to succeed while attending in-class or online courses are the same. While attending in-class course you need discipline, Time management, and do not procrastinate. While attending online classes you need the same skill but the challenge is to not let your environment influence your discipline, time management, and cause you to procrastinate.
